The Rooster

The Rooster is a
flamboyant personality, feisty and obstinate. He is quite the extrovert who
loves to strut his stuff and is proud of who he is. Outwardly confident, the
Rooster is also a trustworthy, hardworking individual. He’ll tell it like it
is with no qualms or reservations.
Rooster Years
Rooster Years are tenth in the cycle following the Monkey Years, and
recur every twelfth year. The Chinese New Year does not fall on a specific
date, so it is essential to check the calendar to find the exact date on
which each Rooster Year actually begins. This year it starts on 9th
February 2005, and although we'll be having a lot of fun here in Hong Kong,
I'm still working!

Rooster
Characteristics
Roosters are
very loyal individuals. They do not like dishonesty or mockery of any sort.
They are blunt, up front and honest people and expect those around them to be
the same. Roosters are happiest when they are surrounded by others, at a
party or just a social gathering. They even enjoy the spotlight and will
exhibit their charisma and wit in a minute. This star quality can be
overbearing, for a Rooster expects you to listen to him while he speaks and
can become agitated if you don’t. Roosters do have a tendency to brag about
themselves and their achievements and demand an attentive audience when
doing so. People born in the Year of the Rooster share certain
characteristics. The Rooster Sign is an abbreviated way of characterizing
that individual’s personality. Following are features associated with the
Sign of the Rooster:
Tenth in order,
Chinese name—JI, sign of honesty
Hour—5pm-6:59pm
Month—September
Western
Counterpart—Virgo
Brave, Romantic,
Motivated, Proud, Blunt, Resentful, Boastful
Roosters
are tempered by one of the five Chinese elements of metal, water, wood,
fire, and earth:
THE METAL
ROOSTER 1921 AND 1981
Metal Roosters can
come off as arrogant and stuck up at times. They need a cushion for that
overextended ego and someone to make sure it stays inflated. They are
reasonable people who seem to analyze every decision they make and every
situation they find themselves in. They are standoffish at times and can let
their aggression get in the way of a blossoming friendship or romance. These
Roosters should take a breather from their egos long enough to really enjoy
what they have to offer.
THE WATER
ROOSTER 1933 AND 1993
This Rooster is a bit
more docile than the other Roosters. He is quieter, more tranquil, not as
vocal or as spotlight hungry as other Roosters. These Roosters are great
communicators probably because they do possess the ability to tone things
down a bit. They have boundless energy that sometimes gets caught up in
detail which causes a lapse in concentration. They have to learn to
appreciate detail but not to harp on it, otherwise they may miss the final
destination.
THE WOOD ROOSTER
194S AND 2005
This Rooster is
different in that he enjoys being a part of the team rather than in the
spotlight like other Roosters. He likes the company of others and is a
genuine friend. These Roosters work for the betterment of society, working
diligently to change the evils of it. They expect quality attempts from
others involved with the causes and sometimes expect too much of their
co-volunteers, as they do of themselves. Often, because of this desire to
help society, these Roosters overcommitt themselves, unable to finish what
they’ve started.
THE FIRE ROOSTER
1957 AND 2017
A Fire Rooster’s image
is his most prized possession. He spends a lot of time making himself look
good, causing him to appear vain. He is flaunty and dramatic, yet he is a
brilliant social organizer who loves to plan parties and gatherings. They do
have a tendency to be a bit bossy and this combined with a bluntness can
cause hurt feelings and bruised egos amongst co-workers. Still, these
Roosters make great leaders, creative, diligent and motivated.
THE EARTH
ROOSTER 1909 AND 1969
This Rooster is
overtly organized. He is a little reserved and quite careful in his
decision-making. These Roosters are hard workers as well, and can handle
several tasks at once. They are detail-oriented who are quite efficient and
self-sufficient. They take on responsibility without a cause and are
motivated only in wanting to be successful. Sometimes they can be abrasive
with colleagues if work is not up to their standards. This can cause
resentment, so the Earth Rooster must be careful in his approach of his
point of view, being sure to be honest and still kind.
Health & Habitat
Roosters are typically
fit people. They enjoy sports and active hobbies such as hiking and
swimming. They don’t get sick very often because they tend to fight illness
fairly well. However, when they do get ill, they usually bounce right back.
Roosters can be a little high strung, suffering from dramatic mood swings
and stress.
As proud as they are
of themselves, you can only imagine how they are about their homes. Roosters
put a lot of effort into their homes as they reflect the Roosters assets and
taste. They are very neat and clean and have everything in its own specific
place. They make a chore out of cleaning out drawers and closets with a
knack for rearranging them better and better each time they attempt it. This
habit is enough to drive anyone berserk, but a Rooster’s family understands
his need for a dramatic appearance.
Career &
Finance
Roosters are more
motivated than most other Animal Signs, making their careers a priority in
their lives. They are hard working, flexible individuals able to stick to
the given tasks. They are generally successful individuals who reach the top
of their chosen professions.
Those born in the Year
of the Rooster share the same kinds of goals and objectives in life. The
occupations best suited for the Rooster are listed below: actors, armed
forces, dancers, book keepers, insurance agents, secretaries, musicians,
dentists, bankers, and certified public accountants.
An eye for detail
means the Rooster is pretty good at handling his finances. He is able to
give others good financial advice and can help get budgets under control.
However, when it comes to his own finances, the Rooster is either or. He
either spends it all or hoards it for a rainy day.
Business Partners
Whether Roosters are
compatible with their business partners depends on whether their signs are
harmonious or antagonistic to those of their business partner. Considering
the congruity of their own characters and the characters of their business
partners can also be very useful. Roosters ruled by

The Rooster
on Vacation
The
appearance-oriented Rooster must go to all the cool, fashionable places when
traveling. These people take pride in knowing all of the latest trends in
hair, makeup and fashion. They like to spend their money in exclusive
department stores where they oooh and ahh over the expensive merchandise.
However, the Rooster is also capable of spending a vacation relaxing, as
long as it’s in a five-star hotel with gourmet food and wine.
Friends &
Enemies
Friends of the Rooster
cannot be sensitive people. As bossy, overbearing and blunt as the Rooster
is, you can imagine just about anyone wouldn’t last without a sense of
humor! That’s why Roosters tend to have more acquaintances than actual
friends. Still, any friend of a Rooster knows how dependable and honest he
is and treasures his friendship despite his arrogance.
Best Friends: Oxen and
Snakes
Mortal Enemies:
Rabbits

Parents & Children
Roosters are quite
protective of their children, always nurturing them and caring for them.
Sometimes they can be a bit overprotective in trying to keep them safe. They
are known to be very strict with their children demanding respect not only
for others, but their environments and surroundings. Rooster parents will
absolutely not tolerate bad manners and are caught up in the way their
children represent them while they’re not there.
Children born in the
Year of the Rooster are bright, intelligent children. They are creative and
alert. They easily play and interact with other children and generally like
to learn new things. They are eager to please parents and teachers alike.
However, Rooster children do not make the best scholars and they tend to
excel in subjects where interaction and social skills are required.
Some parents
immediately click with their children and others find they will never have a
close relationship no matter how hard they try to make it happen. Following
are compatibility ratings between Rooster parents and their children:

Lovers &
Spouses
Roosters are generally
pretty black or white when it comes to their feelings. They either like you,
or they don’t. There is no in between. Although they are vocal with opinions
and ideas, Roosters are pretty tight-lipped about their personal emotions
and feelings. They certainly don’t wear their hearts on their sleeves. They
are intensely private people who never kiss and tell.
Roosters are not
extremely easy to live with. However, if you can get past their bossy,
obstinate, my way or no way exterior, you find a wonderfully romantic,
caring individual hidden beneath. Their hearts are made of solid gold and
they genuinely care abut their family and friends as mush as they care about
themselves (believe it or not!). They are not suited for a sensitive
partner, again, their candor and wit can be humiliating at times. Roosters
can be highly critical of their partners, often expecting too much of them.
Roosters need a stable
companion, one who can take everything he dishes out. He needs someone who
will stand up to him and his mincing words and out him in place when need
be. Roosters also need partners who will deflate them when they are a bit
too high on themselves and who can take their constant boasting. Their
partners in love are:
Rooster*Rat - More conflict than
love.
Rooster*Ox - Good match. You are
both sexual and passionate and love each other intensely.
Rooster*Tiger - Both are strong-willed
which can make for some difficult roads ahead.
Rooster*Rabbit - Very, very opposite.
And no, you don’t attract each other.
Rooster*Dragon - Your egos will deflate
each other. Too high-maintenance.
Rooster*Snake - Great pair! Go for it!
Rooster*Horse - You conflict about who
is boss, but for the most part you get along quite well.
Rooster*Sheep - Not a good match.
You’ll fight a lot.
Rooster*Monkey - Not very attracted
physically which can make for a difficult romance.
Rooster*Rooster - You are both way too
egotistical. There’s not enough room for both heads.
Rooster*Dog - Not too much in common
can make for dull conversations.
Rooster*Pig - Your differences can
unite you.
